Executive Committee Awards

Committee Chair of the Year: This award is presented to the chair of a DUU programming, arts, or media committee whose leadership and passion for enhancing the student experience, given the context of their committee, has had an exceptional positive impact on DUU at large this academic year.

Non-Programming Member of the Year: This award is presented to a member of the non-programming committee whose leadership, ingenuity, and passion for enhancing the student experience, given the context of their role, has had an exceptional positive impact on DUU at large this academic year.

2022 Banquet Award Winner:  Kacia Anderson

DUU Legacy Award: This award recognizes the work of a graduating member of the executive committee of Duke University Union. The recipient of this award has contributed to DUU exceptionally over their tenure as a Duke student and has left a significant impact by helping DUU envision the future, critically identify areas for improvement, and honor its mission. This student has exhibited strong integrity, a collaborative spirit, and intellectual, emotional and social growth throughout their tenure with DUU.

Rising Star Award: This award recognizes the work of a member of the executive committee who is in their first year of chairship. This student has leadership and passion for enhancing the student experience, given the context of their committee, has had an exceptional positive impact on DUU at large this academic year.

Committee Awards

Committee of the Year: This award is presented to a DUU programming, arts, media, or operations committee that has made an exceptional contribution to DUU’s mission via their programming, media output, or operational support. This organization exhibited a collaborative spirit, worked effectively and efficiently as a team internally, and exceptionally impacted the Duke community at large, relative to their committee’s scope and mission.

2022 Banquet Award Winner: Marketing

 

Unsung Hero: This award is presented to a DUU programming, arts, media, or operations committee member who have made substantive yet often unrecognized contributions to their committee(s). This member has a positive attitude, a willingness to help DUU in whatever capacity necessary and a commitment to excellence. Current executive board members are not eligible for this award.

2022 Banquet Award Winner: Jasmine King

 

Committee Member of the Year: This award is presented to a DUU programming, arts, media, or operations committee member who exhibits exceptional dedication to DUU and passion for contributing to DUU’s goals via their work on one or more PAM or operations committees this academic year leading to an exceptional impact, considering the scope of their role. Current PAM committee chairs and non-programming committee members are not eligible for this award.

Program Awards

Collaboration of the Year: This award is presented to one or more DUU programming, arts, or media committees that hosted an outstanding collaborative program or created an outstanding collaborative work of media for the Duke community during the current academic year. The winner of this award is the committee that most successfully fulfilled DUU’s commitment to collaborative external partnerships by working with one or more external student organizations to successfully host a single program, series of programs, or create a work of media.

Event of the Year: This award is presented to a DUU programming, arts, or media committee that hosted an outstanding event for the Duke community during the current academic year. The winner of this award is the committee that most successfully fulfilled DUU’s mission of enriching the co-curricular experience of Duke students through a single event or a series of programs.

Project of the Year: This award is presented to a DUU programming, arts, or media committee that created an outstanding project for the Duke community during the current academic year. The winner of this award is the committee that most successfully fulfilled DUU’s mission of enriching the co-curricular experience of Duke students.

2022 Banquet Award Winner: Duke vs. UNC Video

 

Innovation of the Year: This award is presented to a specific innovation during the current academic year. The winner of this award is the result of “thinking outside the box” to present a novel, unprecedented idea or experience to the Duke community that also helped elevate DUU.

Partner Awards

Campus Partner of the Year: This award is presented to a person or department that has gone above and beyond to assist DUU with planning and execution of one or more successful campus wide programs. Any Duke department or student organization who has worked with any DUU committee member is eligible for this award.
