The Welcome Back Bash is one of DUU’s signature events and something we greatly look forward to at the start of every academic year. Each fall, we transform campus into a lively celebration with rides, activities, games, takeaways, music, food, and fireworks, uniting thousands of students to commemorate the new academic year.

3. Small Town Record – Audition Show

Every fall, Small Town Records hosts their beloved audition show, where students perform in the final round of auditions to be an STR signed artist. Held in the iconic Duke Coffeehouse, the show is often students’ first introduction to the hidden gem just behind their beloved Marketplace. From first-years to graduate students, the Small Town Records Audition Show is a night to remember.

4. Coffeehouse – Brickside Music Festival

Presented by Duke Coffeehouse and WXDU, the annual Brickside Music Festival is a student-run event featuring live music, food trucks, and local vendors. Brickside is known for showcasing diverse genres from indie and experimental to R&B and electronic, usually held in early spring at the Duke Coffeehouse with some outdoor activities.

5. Freewater Productions – Film Festival

Founded in December of 2014, the Duke Independent Film Festival (DIFF) is Duke University’s first and only campus-wide film festival. An annual event, the film festival accepts short film submissions from any undergraduate or graduate student at Duke University. The purpose of DIFF is to seek out the best filmmakers and storytellers on campus, providing a platform to foster their talents and present their work to the public.

6. LDOC – LDOC (Last Day Of Classes)

Known by its nickname, LDOC, the Last Day of Classes celebration started in the mid-1990s and hosts games and events including live concerts on Abele Quad to mark the end of classes and the start of a new chapter.
